Chip Mounter Condition Check

 

I think users of SMT industry keep striving for improving the efficiency of daily productivity. Mainly, we need to press importance on the maintenance of mounter in order to ensure smooth performance.

 

Due to busy production, there are a lot of cases in reality showing that neglecting the maintenance of chip mounter brings a lot of unnecessary defectiveness and causing low productivity. SMT machine is a kind of precision machine and hence its performance is easily affected if users are not able to master proper handling methods as well as regular cleaning especially for countries in overseas.

 

 

(I) Nozzle Cleaning

 

Normally, nozzle cleaning is suggested to be carried out once a week. Dusts are too tiny to be visible with our naked-eyes, and thus users are accustomed execute production without machine cleaning on the beginning of the day.

 

                   

 

Dirt on nozzles will be eventually causing more absorption of dirtiness and the piled-up dirt makes to a decline in accuracy rate and decreases the productivity; due to cycle time will be increasing and leads to more component mishandling keeps occurring. In addition, if high rejection rates are created, the life-span of the nozzles will gradually become shorter due to extra fatigue and to unusable which consciously affect the productivity.

 

Problems shall not easily exist if Factory Production Managers do focus on regular cleaning on nozzles, though unawareness sometimes is unavoidable.  Nevertheless, maintenance and inspection must be performed regularly.

 

 

(II) Feeders Maintenance

 

One of factors plays great influence to chip mounter condition. Nowadays, though the Electrical Feeders is highly recommended, however Mechanical Feeders are still widely-used by manufacturers. Regular calibration is required to maintain the feeder accuracy for maintain standard pick-up rates.

 

There are many factories still using poor quality feeder and very less of them using calibration jig. Improvement is a must to increase the productivity.

 

(III) Information on Machine Operation

 

A mounter can generate various type of information for instance production rates, pick-up rates and accuracy rates. Those rates are piled-up to gather information and provide users preventative maintenance.

 

Most of the factories execute their production in form of 24/7, thus regular check up and proper maintenance on pick-and-place equipment, nozzles and feeders can save a company time and money and ensure the performance is being maintained to the max.

 

Proper feeder and nozzle maintenance of chip mounter means an increase in production, save the company more money over a short period of time.
